Who we are

Murex Studio is the trading name of Hassan Abdallah, a sole trader based in London, United Kingdom. We are responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal information described here.

Questions about your information? Email hello@murexstudio.co.uk or message us on WhatsApp at 07784 015778.

What we collect

  • When you contact us through our form, WhatsApp or email: your name, business name, email address, phone number, the package you’re interested in and anything you write in your message.
  • When we work together: the content you send us for your website (text, photos, logos, menus, prices), and the details we need to invoice you and keep accounts.
  • When you visit this website: we don’t use analytics, tracking or advertising tools. Like every website, our hosting provider and the font service we use (Google Fonts) receive your IP address so they can deliver the page to your device.

How our contact form works

Our contact form doesn’t save anything on our website. When you press “Send enquiry”, it opens WhatsApp or your email app with your message filled in, and you choose whether to send it. Once sent, your message is also handled by WhatsApp (owned by Meta) or your email provider under their own privacy policies.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote, because you asked us to.
  • To design, build and look after your website, because that’s our contract with you.
  • To keep financial records, because the law (HMRC) requires it.

We will never sell your information, and we won’t send you marketing unless you’ve said yes to it.

Who we share it with

Only the services we need to run the business: our website host, email provider, WhatsApp, our bank or payment provider and, if we have one, our accountant. Some of these companies may store data outside the UK; where they do, they use the legal safeguards UK data protection law requires.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t turn into a project: deleted within 12 months.
  • Client and invoice records: kept for as long as HMRC requires (currently at least 5 years after the relevant tax return deadline), then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or give you a copy to take elsewhere. You can also object to how we use it. Just contact us using the details above and we’ll respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Terms of service

These terms apply to all website, branding and Care Plan work by Murex Studio. Together with your written proposal, they form our agreement. If the proposal says something different from these terms, the proposal wins.

1. Quotes and prices

Package prices on this website are starting prices. Your exact price, what’s included and the timeline are set out in your written proposal, which is valid for 30 days. All prices are in pounds sterling.

Murex Studio is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.

2. Payment

  • A 50% deposit is due before work starts.
  • The remaining 50% is due at launch, before the website goes live or is handed over.
  • Invoices are due within 14 days.
  • The Care Plan is billed monthly in advance.

3. Your part

To keep your project on schedule, we need your content (text, photos, logo, menus, prices) and your feedback on time. By sending us content, you confirm you have the right to use it. If a project is paused for more than 30 days while we wait on you, we may move it in our schedule and invoice for the work done so far.

4. Changes and revisions

Every package includes two rounds of changes to the design. Extra rounds, or new features that aren’t in your proposal, will be quoted separately and only started once you’ve agreed the price.

5. Timelines

Timelines are estimates and start once we have your deposit and content. A Launch site is typically live in about a week.

6. Who owns what

Once you’ve paid in full, you own the website design and the content we created for you. Your domain name is registered in your name wherever possible. Fonts, plugins, booking systems and stock images supplied by other companies stay under their own licences. We may show your project in our portfolio, unless you ask us not to.

7. Third-party costs

Domain names, paid booking or ordering systems and other third-party services are paid by you, unless your proposal or Care Plan says otherwise. We’ll always tell you about these costs before you commit.

8. Care Plan

The Care Plan costs £60 a month and includes hosting, security updates, backups and small edits (up to one hour of changes each month, such as new prices, menu updates or holiday hours). It runs month to month, and you can cancel with 30 days’ notice. If you leave, we’ll help you move your website to a new host.

9. Cancelling a project

Either of us can end a project by letting the other know in writing. You’ll pay for the work done up to that point. The deposit is non-refundable once design work has started.

10. Our responsibility

We take real care with every project. We aren’t responsible for problems caused by services outside our control (such as hosting outages, Google, WhatsApp or payment providers), or for indirect losses such as lost profits. Our total responsibility for any project is limited to the amount you paid us for it. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that can’t legally be limited.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Cookies

This website doesn’t set any cookies and doesn’t use analytics or advertising trackers. If that ever changes, we’ll update this page and ask for your permission first where the law requires it.

Questions

If anything here isn’t clear, message us on WhatsApp or email hello@murexstudio.co.uk and we’ll explain.
